TALES FROM THE TRENCHES

Tales from the Trenches

Perhaps you can identify with some of the assignments outlined and the attributes of the clients, whether large or small, companies or sole traders, professional societies or community groups.

“Marketing communications. Why do we need that? In Europe everybody knows us.”

Hardly a positive start to a consulting relationship which was to last for several years
and see Infotech initiate marketing programs which were emulated around the globe by one of the world’s largest software developers.

It boasted 80 percent of the market in its home country. But getting traction in Australia, one of the world’s most competitive markets, called for a big marketing strategy and heaps of creativity to support a portfolio of communications tools.

Departing Australia for his next assignment the senior executive who initiated the relationship confided “I didn’t understand marketing communications before we met. But you have provided a template for good communications in each new market we enter.”

“One of the most enjoyable press conferences of the year”

Even this somewhat cynical of journalists warmed to a creative product launch which made the event fun, satisfied his information needs (and those of his readers) and studiously avoided trying to sell him the new computer being unveiled.

Inspiration for the launch venue came with ease: a koala enclosure in an iconic wildlife environment which acknowledged that our furry tree-dweller was an unusual but teaser code-name for a new computer.

The timely arrival of “Lucy,” who climbed from treetop to computer top during media photographs, is the only highlight of a smoothly engineered  event  in which we were happy to defer to an  inquisitive
                              marsupial.

“The article couldn’t have appeared at a better time”

Concrete TruckThis news article in a local paper really helped a client and his client. It told of the sound-deadening and wear-reduction properties of a new polyurethane coating being adopted by a concrete production plant in a rapidly encroaching urban environment. The local council was delighted with the initiative shown by the concrete plant production manager as the plant was able to continue to operate while surrounded by new houses. Infotech’s client was delighted because the story spread the word about the benefits of his new coating system.
